The project involves the construction of a hyperscale data center to support Azure cloud services and artificial intelligence applications. Powered by renewable hydroelectricity from Hydro-Québec, the center will benefit from its proximity to two local power plants, eliminating the need for new high-voltage transmission lines. This approach significantly reduces the carbon footprint and is in line with Microsoft’s environmental goals: to become carbon negative, water positive, and zero waste by 2030.
